Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was born on November 30, 1977, in Miami, Florida. American electro-house musician Record producer, D.J. & music executive. He's the 3rd child of Chizuru Kobayashi & Rocky Aoki. His father, who was a former wrestler, was also the co-founder of the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has two older siblings and a sister Kana who is commonly called Grace because of her middle name Grace and brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi). The half-sister of his is Devon Aoki, a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach and graduated from Newport Harbor High School with a 1995 B.A. in badminton. He went on to UC Santa Barbara, graduating with two B.A. He also earned two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist studies, and the other in Sociology. In college, he produced DIY records and ran underground concerts out of his Biko room in the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch was born as a venue for concerts. He was active in student activism and founded a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. By his early 20s, he was establishing his own label which he named Dim Mak. The name is a reference for his hero from his childhood, Bruce Lee. The label dropped I'm IN THE HOUSE in the year 2000, in collaboration with the Zuper Blahq alter ego of will.i.am. The track made it to the top spot at No. 29 on the U.K. Singles Chart in the very first week of its release. The song later made it onto the U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, being among the top 5 on both charts. The song was featured on an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man. Producer-songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview in May 2010 with HitQuarters that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked together with Aoki on one song. He was named the highest-grossing American dance artist by Pollstar in 2012. He has worked with artists such as Afrojack and Linkin Park, Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out Boy. He is famous for his remixes of artists like Kid Cudi.
