Rachel Anne McAdams

Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver and furniture moving. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November 17, 1978. She is English, Welsh and Irish-born. Rachel began acting at thirteen. She was already appearing in Shakespearean productions at summer theater camps. Rachel graduated with honors from York University with a BFA in Theater. After her debut on an episode of Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) She was a co-star in the Canadian television series Slings and Arrows (2003) in a comedy-drama focusing on the trials and tribulations of the Shakespearean theater group. She won an Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her breakout role as Regina George in the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly catapulted her onto the short list of Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. Following that film, she starred opposite Ryan Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a huge success in the box office and quickly became the most loved romantic drama with a young audience. McAdams met Gosling while filming. They were a couple until the middle of 2007. McAdams then showed her range on screen in the hilarious comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the action thriller Red Eye (2005), and the holiday drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams then explored the independent film world through Married Life (2007), which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and also starred Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. After her role in The Lucky Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams also starred alongside Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's blockbuster international Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the plucky producer for Morning Glory (2010). She also played the materialistic fiancee Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams returned to romantic drama with The Vow (2012), in which she was a co-star with Channing Tatum. McAdams also appears alongside Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) and alongside Noomi Rapace in Brian de Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the Year" Award in addition to the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
