Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on September 7, 1987. Her father, Ira David Wood III is a stage actor writer, director and writer, as is her mother, Sara Wood, is an actor as well as acting coach. There are two older brothers, Dana Wood, a singer, and Ira David Wood IV, who has also appeared. Evan and her brothers have frequently were seen performing at Theatre In The Park in Raleigh. Her father started the company and is its executive director. At the age of five she was screen-tested against Kirsten Dunst for her lead part in Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994) following a lengthy audition process. Along with her mom and brother Ira the family moved to Los Angeles in 1996. Since her arrival, she has had successes in TV series, movies on TV, and feature films. She was the lead character in Practical Magic (1998) and in S1m0ne (2002 the child of Al Pacino). Holly Hunter followed with Thirteen (2004). Her role as Tracy in "Thirteen," which she performed in was nominated for the Golden Globes for Best Performance by an Actress: Drama, and a nomination from the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor In a Leading Role. In the year of her SAG nomination, she was the youngest actress nominated for the Leading Role category. She earned an Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie" for her performance of Veda Pierce in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011). She also earned acclaim for her strong performance as Stephanie, Mickey Rourke's estranged daughter, in Darren Aronsofsky's The Wrestler (2008). Daughter of Ira David Wood III and Sara Wood. Ira David Wood III's younger sister. Trained in dance. She is passionate about dancing or sing, play the rollblade as well as horseback riding. She holds the black belt in tae do. She is in contact with a lot of her Once and Again (1999 castmates: Mischa Barrton, Julia Whelan and Shane West.
